SMART MODS SLATES ACE SPEEDWAY MAKE-UP DATE FOR AUGUST 25
Robert Jeffreys Memorial Will Pay Tribute To One of SMART’s All-Time Best
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Martinsville, VA (July 6, 2023) - The SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic has announced the make-up date for the postponed Robert Jeffreys Memorial at Ace Speedway will be Friday, August 25.
“Time is of essence and dates to reschedule the Ace Speedway race were limited with all the racing already on our schedule for late in the year. September and October were solidly booked, so we made a collective decision for August 25,” said Chris Williams, Series Director. “Some of our teams are heading to Langley (Speedway - NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race) the next day and the turnaround is going to be quick. Ace is going to be a special race with the Robert Jeffreys Memorial. With entries already in, we are expecting a great car count and I look forward to the new date of August 25th for a great race.”
Robert Jeffreys was one of Southern Modified racing’s all-time best and longest supporters. He won the inaugural SMART Modified Tour race at Langley Field Speedway (now Langley Speedway - VA) on April 9, 1989. He went on to make 77-starts with the series and accumulated three victories.
More details for the Robert Jeffreys Memorial on Friday, August 25 with the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic will be announced soon. For more regarding the entire night of racing, please visit the Ace Speedway website.

SMART Modified Tour
The SMART Modified Tour captures the essence of one of the most legendary forms of racing in America, pavement Modifieds. Born in 1988, these ground-pounding, 600-horsepower missiles are a must-see for any racing fan.
In 2020, Chris Williams brought SMART Modifieds back to prominence after a brief hiatus. Due to the overwhelming popularity from its fan base, a four-race schedule in its initial year has given birth to an adventurous 14-race schedule in 2023.
This year will mark the third full-season of SMART Modified Tour racing. Many of Modified racing’s best drivers, from all over the country, will compete with the series, which visits 13 different racetracks in three different states in the Mid-Atlantic - North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
SMART Modifieds compete on grueling asphalt oval short tracks, embedded in quaint local communities, each spring, summer and fall.
