NEW DAY MOTORSPORTS PARTNERS WITH 2016 NASCAR PINTY'S CHAMPION CAYDEN LAPCEVICH FOR THE SEASON FINALE OF THE SMART TOUR AT ORANGE COUNTY SPEEDWAY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Winston Salem, NC (October 23, 2023) – New Day Motorsports is thrilled to announce its partnership with Cayden Lapcevich, for the upcoming season finale of the SMART Tour at Orange County Speedway on October 28th.
Jeff Day, of New Day Motorsports, expressed the team’s excitement about this partnership: “We are excited to welcome championship driver Cayden Lapcevich to our team. Crew Chief Zach Edwards and his guys have been working hard to prepare the #76 SMART Modified car for the 99-lap Season Finale. Zach and Cayden have good chemistry and have raced with one another previously with success.”
Canadian native, Cayden Lapcevich, hailing from a family deeply rooted in motorsports, is no stranger to the racing world. His younger brothers Treyten (2023 NASCAR Pinty’s Champion) and Ryden, also race under the guidance of their father, Jeff Lapcevich. Currently residing in Mooresville, North Carolina, Cayden serves as a crew chief at Venturini Motorsports on the ARCA circuit.
He shared his excitement about climbing back in the seat: “Anytime I go to the racetrack, I try to be perfect, and I try and hit on all eight cylinders. My dad instilled in me if you ain’t gonna do it right don’t do it at all and I apply that in everything I do in life. I have more laps in a modified than I think people think. There was a stint there in 2021 where I was running a crate car with one of the guys at work. I have quite a few laps in one, the transition into it was the hardest thing. You take away front fenders, bumper and you get rid of all the downforce on the nose, that feel that I was looking for in a Late Model was so hard to come by in a Modified. I never figured out how to achieve it. I still haven’t and it bugs me but I feel like I can get there. I won at orange county in 2021 in a crate mod. We went and tested on Thursday and Brandon Ward went out first. I got on top of the trailer and watched him go around there and he was hauling ass. I think to myself, “I don’t know if I can do that and then you get in the car and its second nature to me. I just gassed up and drove it in until ya see Jesus, it just all feels natural to me. I’m excited to get back to a track I have won at and having the opportunity to return with my brothers and my dad joining me on the crew, is quite special.”
Cayden had a successful reunion with Kevin Orlando a couple weeks ago at South Boston, running in the same crate mod he did back in 2021. The combo took home the win, a great reminder to everyone that he is going to be very competitive and one to watch at Orange County Speedway. “Cayden brings a lot of knowledge and talent to our organization; his entire family is deeply rooted in racing. He is going to put some excitement into the season finale this weekend.” Stated owner Kevin Powell.
The collaboration of the newly formed partnership promises an exciting race at Orange County Speedway, and fans can expect a thrilling performance. Glenn Styres Racing, Ace Services, JSL Electric, Kevinsaysyes.com, Precision Built Spindles and “The Lappy Fan Club” have all come on board to make this dream a reality for the former Championship Driver. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for fans and businesses. For more information visit our website at newdaymotorsports.com and our social media channels.
SMART Modified Tour
The SMART Modified Tour captures the essence of one of the most legendary forms of racing in America, pavement Modifieds. Born in 1988, these ground-pounding, 600-horsepower missiles are a must-see for any racing fan.
In 2020, Chris Williams brought SMART Modifieds back to prominence after a brief hiatus. Due to the overwhelming popularity from its fan base, a four-race schedule in its initial year has given birth to an adventurous 14-race schedule in 2023.
This year will mark the third full-season of SMART Modified Tour racing. Many of Modified racing’s best drivers, from all over the country, will compete with the series, which visits 13 different racetracks in three different states in the Mid-Atlantic - North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
SMART Modifieds compete on grueling asphalt oval short tracks, embedded in quaint local communities, each spring, summer and fall.
