TAKE 2 FOR THE SMART MODS WARRIOR 100 AT CARAWAY ON SATURDAY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Martinsville, VA (March 20, 2023) - Caraway Speedway is noted as the track with the most history with the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic. This Saturday (March 25, 2023), for the 77th time in series history, the SMART Mods will grace the half-mile oval in Sophia, NC with the second running of the Warrior event.
There has not been a repeat winner in a SMART Modified Tour race at Caraway since the series returned to prominence in 2020. Of those seven races in that span, five former winners are expected to be in the field, including Brian Loftin, Gary Putnam, Jonathan Brown, Joey Coulter and Caleb Heady. The Tommy Baldwin Racing number-7ny of Heady is the defending winner of the Warrior 100 and also the series champion in 2022.
The event will be the second race of the year for the SMART Mods. Matt Hirschman grabbed the win in the season opener at Florence Motor Speedway (SC) on Saturday, March 4.
The first attempt to complete the Warrior 100, on Sunday, March 12, was postponed due to inclement weather. A schedule for Saturday's event day will be released midweek.
More than 25 Modifieds are expected to compete in the Warrior 100 at Caraway Speedway. The race is part of the Open-Wheel Warriors Under the Lights event at Caraway, which will also feature 602 Modifieds, Challenger, Bootleggers, Mini-Stocks, and U-Cars. If you are unable to make it to Caraway Speedway on Saturday, the race will be live-streamed by FloRacing.

SMART Modified Tour
The SMART Modified Tour captures the essence of one of the most legendary forms of racing in America, pavement Modifieds. Born in 1988, these ground-pounding, 600-horsepower missiles are a must-see for any racing fan.
In 2020, Chris Williams brought SMART Modifieds back to prominence after a brief hiatus. Due to the overwhelming popularity from its fan base, a four-race schedule in its initial year has given birth to an adventurous 14-race schedule in 2023.
This year will mark the third full-season of SMART Modified Tour racing. Many of Modified racing’s best drivers, from all over the country, will compete with the series, which visits 13 different racetracks in three different states in the Mid-Atlantic - North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
SMART Modifieds compete on grueling asphalt oval short tracks, embedded in quaint local communities, each spring, summer and fall.
