FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Timmonsville, SC (March 9, 2023) - Brian Weber is planning to accomplish something that might not have ever been done before. The veteran racer is scheduled to compete in a NASCAR Xfinity Series race and a SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic event in a single weekend.

Weber will race in NASCAR at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, AZ on Saturday and the Warrior 100 at Caraway Speedway on Sunday with the SMART Modifieds.

“It’s been about 20 years since I’ve been in an Xfinity car,” said Weber, who has 20 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, his last coming in 2003. “This is my wind-down season; I’ve spent the last 40 years making circles. My friend Carl Long planted a little seed (for Xfinity racing) and the next thing you know I’m calling Brett Bodine (NASCAR) and he said he’d like to see me at Phoenix, so here we are.”

Double-duty is a difficult task to accomplish from anywhere, let alone a coast-to-coast contest. Yet, the 56 year old from Long Island, NY has it all planned out to be at the Warrior 100 at Caraway Speedway on Sunday.

“I’ll get to Phoenix at 8pm (MT - Thursday) and hopefully I’ll be all rested up. Because of the time change I’ll be up early Friday and I’ll troll around the garage area with the ARCA Menards (Series) East. I’ll try to take in the lines, the grooves and the tendencies of the track. Then on Saturday, I’ll try to attempt to qualify and hopefully race the Xfinity race.

“I get on a redeye flight at 11:45pm (MT) on Saturday night and land in Charlotte at 6:40 in the morning on Sunday,” added Weber. “I’ll drive directly to Caraway to drive the SMART Modified Tour race. My team in the Carolinas will have everything ready to go for me.”

Weber loves Modified racing in the south since he relocated to North Carolina, yet this will be his last year of full-time racing.

“I’m a blessed man. I’ve been able to do the things I’ve wanted to do in my life, but I do have some other things I want to do in life as well,” stated Weber, who drives the Last Option Bed number-01 Modified. “My goal is Top-10s. I’m not in denial; I don’t have an $80,000 car, but I’m certainly capable of Top-10 finishes. We want to run every SMART race and finish in the Top-10 (in points) and then pack it up.

“I’ve got Ernie Ruggerio setting my car up right now. He spent 8-days on it before the first race and he’s got my car turning well now. It didn’t reflect that at Florence (finished 22nd) because we had a 50-cent seal go and I didn’t have power steering for most of the race.”

Weber and nearly 30 Modifieds in all are expected to compete in the Warrior 100 on Sunday at Caraway Speedway. The race is part of the Dogwood 250 event at Caraway, which will also feature Late Models, 602 Modifieds, Legend Cars and Bandoleros. SMART Modified Tour
The SMART Modified Tour captures the essence of one of the most legendary forms of racing in America, pavement Modifieds. Born in 1988, these ground-pounding, 600-horsepower missiles are a must-see for any racing fan.

In 2020, Chris Williams brought SMART Modifieds back to prominence after a brief hiatus. Due to the overwhelming popularity from its fan base, a four-race schedule in its initial year has given birth to an adventurous 14-race schedule in 2023.

This year will mark the third full-season of SMART Modified Tour racing. Many of Modified racing’s best drivers, from all over the country, will compete with the series, which visits 13 different racetracks in three different states in the Mid-Atlantic - North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

SMART Modifieds compete on grueling asphalt oval short tracks, embedded in quaint local communities, each spring, summer and fall.
